8 service lines, one clear path to book

The Client
Basalt & Pine CPA is a concept brand I built to show what an accounting firm’s website can look like: a Portland practice serving Oregon families and small businesses with tax, bookkeeping and payroll. It’s a demo, not a paying client, so the firm name, reviews and contact details are placeholders.
The Challenge
Nobody shops for an accountant for fun. People usually show up worried about a deadline or a letter, and they want to know one thing: does this firm understand my situation? In Oregon that means Metro and Multnomah County taxes, the Corporate Activity Tax, transit tax and Paid Leave Oregon. Generic “we do taxes” copy doesn’t answer that. The site had to prove local knowledge quickly and make booking a consultation feel easy.
What We Built Together
I built the site in Next.js and deployed it on Vercel, with Home, Services, an Oregon taxes section, FAQ and Contact. The hero names the Oregon filings up front instead of hiding them further down, and a named founding partner, a rating strip and office hours sit near the top to build trust early.
Services are split into eight lines: individual tax, small business tax, bookkeeping, payroll, Oregon compliance, IRS and Oregon DOR notices, entity structure and year-round planning. Each one has its own anchor on the Services page, so a visitor can jump straight to their problem. “Book a consultation” and a click-to-call number repeat through the page, so the next step is never more than a scroll away.
The work.
The Results
Basalt & Pine is live as a working demo. It shows a firm how location-specific content can do the trust-building a sales call usually has to do, and it gives a clear structure for adding service pages that rank for local tax searches.
What's Possible
For a real firm, the next step is connecting the consultation button to a scheduler and a secure client intake form, then turning each Oregon tax topic into its own page for local SEO.
